Owner Richard Childress commented briefly on rumors that GM Goodwrench would not be back to sponsor Kevin Harvick's Chevy in 2007. "There's always rumors out there swinging around. We're talking about 'em right now...we're looking at what we're going to do next year and right now our plans are Goodwrench and Hershey for next year but who knows what can happen in the sport...things change." The "Car of Tomorrow" [COT] was tested Monday [and also on Tuesday] at the Milwaukee Mile with Aric Almirola testing for Joe Gibbs Racing and David Green testing a Hendrick Motorsports COT Chevy. Ganassi Racing will test the COT at Milwaukee later this month. R&J Racing announced that 1988 Cup Champ Bill Elliott will be in the No. 37 car at Kansas Speedway next weekend. RWI Racing officials say that Dodge Motorsports will be the primary sponsor on Steve Wallace's No. 61 Busch Series entry for four races. Dodge will sponsor the driver at Dover, Texas, Phoenix and Homestead. David Ragan will attempt to make his Nextel Cup debut this weekend, competing in Roush Racing's No. 06 Ford Fusion previously driven by Todd Kluever in the Dover 400 at Dover International Speedway. Ragan competes in the Craftsman Truck Series and is also driving in the Dover Busch Series race this weekend. Kevin Harvick expressed mostly joy after his victory Sunday at New Hampshire International Speedway. But there was some embarrassment mixed in, mostly over a potentially messy pass he made for the lead on lap 36. Harvick, who seemed to hope nobody noticed the pass, said, "Luckily, it didn't tear anybody up, and everybody came out of it OK." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
