John Daly doesn't have a broken bone in his hand, after all. Just torn ligaments.

That's what Daly said after Saturday's 2-under-par 70 left him tied for 27th at 5 under going into the final round of the Southern Farm Bureau Classic. Daly wowed the crowd Friday, shooting a nearly one-handed 65 to make the cut a day after firing a 76 that included a swing that produced what he first thought was a broken bone in his right hand.

Tiger Woods' driving and iron play at the American Express Championship were world-class. He hit 12 of 14 fairways yesterday, his best effort all week, and he missed just one green, the 12th, where he made his only bogey of the day and only his third of the week.

Lee Janzen finished third at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic. It was his first top-10 since he finished T7 at the 2005 U.S. Bank Championship. In fact, it was his best finish since he finish runner-up to Kenny Perry at the 2003 Memorial Tournament. Janzen, who is using his one-time, one-year special exemption of top-50 on the PGA Tour career money list, was 202nd on the season money list coming into the week. His $204,000 payday moves him to 168th ($346,849) on the season money list.

With his victory at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, D.J. Trahan earns two-year exemption on the PGA Tour that will take him through the 2008 season. He also earns exemptions into several invitational tournaments in 2007, including the Mercedes Championships in Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii. Trahan earned his first PGA Tour victory in his 65th professional start.

Ted Purdy, who finished T5 at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, has played very well over the last few weeks,. After missing eight cuts in nine starts over the summer he has bounced back with three made cuts in his last three tournaments, including finishing in the top-10 twice.

Geoff Ogilvy was invited to be a guest at President Bush's state dinner honoring Prime Minister John Howard of Australia. Ogilvy, who has a bit of royal blood in his veins ? he's a distant relative of Sir Angus Ogilvy, a member of Britain's Royal Family, and Robert the Bruce of Bravehart fame in Scotland ? sat at the head table with Bush, Howard, Condoleezza Rice, Rupert Murdoch, and David and Julie Eisenhower. Ogilvy probably will not play again until the Chrysler Championship near Tampa at the end of October.
