Some think Robert Yates might profit by selling or loaning one of his car numbers. The 88 and the 38 both are safely in the top 35 as of now. Others consider that unlikely, as the gain for Yates would be negligible and the cost for a buyer likely too high. Ray Evernham believes the clock is ticking on Nextel Cup owners who aren't aligned with deep-pocketed partners. Next year, the team will add a part-time fourth Charger while spending more on the Car of Tomorrow. Evernham estimates his budget will need to grow by $8 million for software, technology and personnel. Wary of tapping sponsors for more money, Evernham said the ultimate solution to the cash crunch will be taking on minority partners in his Statesville, N.C.-based operation. Greg Biffle said he thinks and hopes he will remain paired with crew chief Doug Richert after what appears to be an upcoming reorganization at Roush Racing. Team owner Jack Roush told NASCAR Scene at Kansas City that he is still determining his moves. The inaugural Talladega Superspeedway Craftsman Truck Series race is one vehicle short of a 36-truck field, according to the preliminary entry list. Only 35 trucks are entered for Saturday's John Deere 250, the first for the trucks at the track. Joe Nemechek will drive the Morgan-Dollar Motorsports No. 46 Chevrolet in Saturday's inaugural John Deere 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. This will be the first time that Nemechek has competed in the series since January 1998. The U.S. Army, Nemechek's full-time sponsor on his MB2 Motorsports-owned Nextel Cup car, will also sponsor the truck entry. International Speedway Corp. has entered into a limited partnership with Groupe motorise international (GMI) to organize, promote and hold certain events at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. The partnership includes the debut NASCAR Busch Series race at the track next season, slated for Aug. 4. Newton-Everett Biotech, the maker of premium supplements and nutraceuticals will sponsor Derrike Cope in the No. 74 Dodger beginning at UAW-Ford 500 at the Talladega Superspeedway this weekend. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
