According to Greg Norman, technology, money and Tiger Woods -- not necessarily in that order -- are hurting golf. And big trouble is ahead if the PGA Tour doesn't manage the sport more carefully. He blamed supersized prize money for putting so much pressure on players that it sucks away individual personality once supplied by players like Lee Trevino and Seve Ballesteros.

Anyone looking for a deeper explanation of why Ross Berlin quit as Michelle Wie's agent at the William Morris Agency may be disappointed, because it's simply business as usual. Berlin, who left the PGA Tour to assume the role as the primary on-site point man for Wie, returned for an unspecified role with his old employer. Meanwhile, Wie's team hired Greg Nared to replace Berlin. Nared has been with Nike for 15 years, most often with Tiger Woods. It was Nared who courted Wie for Nike.

Lee Trevino made sure he'll remember playing with Arnold Palmer in the King's final competitive start last Friday. "When he putted out, I grabbed the ball," Trevino told reporters. "And then I had the Sharpie in my back pocket. When he was signing it, I said, 'Hey, sign this glove too.' Trevino has autographs from only two other golfers -- Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

Three woods that belonged to President Richard Nixon will be auctioned on Saturday by Freeman's Auction House in Philadelphia. The clubs were part of a collection owned by Tom and Leo McNamara, who obtained them in 1967 when the soon-to-be president had them sent to the Walter Hagen Co. to be repaired. The company offered to send Nixon a new set, and the McNamaras got the old set. A full set of Dwight Eisenhower's clubs brought $88,000. John Kennedy's went for $750,000.

With his U.S. Ryder Cup captaincy behind him, Tom Lehman is ready to resume his most successful season as a player on the PGA Tour since 2001. Lehman is in the field for this week's Funai Classic at Walt Disney World. Lehman will also play next week at the Chrysler Championship in Tampa. Lehman's game has been good this year. He still drives well and is among the top-third in greens in regulation.

Even if Annika Sorenstam wanted to add an LPGA Tour event to her schedule to try to make up ground in her bid for a sixth straight LPGA Player of the Year title, her schedule won't allow it. Starting next week, she will be playing in four straight tournaments -- but only two on the LPGA Tour. Sorenstam will play in Dubai next week, then go to Japan for the Mizuno Classic. Instead of playing the Tournament of Champions in Alabama, however, Sorenstam has agreed to play in Greg Norman's Merrill Lynch Shootout, where Fred Couples will be her partner.

With two full-field events left, a record 88 players have earned more than $1 million on the PGA Tour. That's 10 more than last season. And that figure would have led the money list in 1991. Tom Lehman finished No. 1 in 1996 with $1.78 million. He would rank 33rd with that amount this year.

The PGA Tour's answer to superspeedway racing tees off today with the opening round of the Funai Classic at Walt Disney World, where if you are not making birdies you are not making money. There were alterations made to the Magnolia course after 2004 to toughen it up but last year still played to a stroke average of 69.868, the 47th toughest of 55 courses on tour. Meanwhile, the Palm ranked as the easiest of 2005 at 67.803.
