South Florida did it for the entire week before the Orange Bowl -- it had no choice when Penn Staters made South Beach's Crobar feel like State College's Crowbar. Penn State makes it look fun, and it definitely is. And this fall was the best it's ever been. First, Penn State was unified by its very own theme song. We not only bounced along to Zombie Nation in Beaver Stadium, we also know the beat so well that we chanted it in the bars. Secondly, Penn State had a week-long party to which everyone was invited -- our newly established tent community, Paternoville. Bullhorns, catered food, football players and Woody Paige all made appearances as student campers waited at Gate A of Beaver Stadium for front-row seats. It's hard to top that. And, most importantly, Penn State was, and still is, inspired. On our campus this fall, a remarkable resurgence story was scripted by an army of passionate young men. A nation became enamored, and we, who had been living and loving this place all along, finally had the perfect reason to keep doing so. "If you don't go, you don't know" is a Facebook-appropriate way to capture the current Penn State vibe. With Penn State being so in, though, that's certain not to last very long -- people who don't go have already started to know, and we're all right with that. In fact, that makes it even better. We have the school everyone in the country is talking about and the comeback story that will never cease to amaze. Oh, and we spent New Year's Eve in Miami, too. We are... spectacular right now. | |||
