Dear Cowgirl -  Since it's so tough to find someone to discuss Florida State football with here in Pennsylvania (especially in the heart of Nittany Lion territory), I was wondering, based on the incoming freshman, and knowing what we've lost up to this point (Ernie Sims, Antonio Cromartie, Fred Rouse, etc.), how do you think the 'Noles will fair next season? Is Drew Weatherford going to take the next step as a quarterback and show some consistency? Are we going to find that swagger on offense that seems to have been missing the last few years? What do you think? Good luck with your last semester. Go 'Noles!
-- Chris, Pennsylvania

Dear Chris:  First off, I pity you for having to listen to ZombieNation incessantly (sorry Penn State fans, I have nothing but respect for your program, but God, I hate that song). As for the 'Noles, it's going to be an interesting season nonetheless because we have such a young team. I think quarterback Drew Weatherford is really going to step up the leadership and consistency for the 2006 season. We spent a lot of time beefing up our offensive line with recruiting with additions like Evan Bellamy, Matt Hardrick, Brandon Davis, and Darren Rose (who is entering at a measly 6-5/310 pounds, which equals THREE OF MY COWGIRLS!). Maybe the addition of some fresh meat to the offensive line's returning veterans (Overmyer and Henderson) will give Weatherford more time to think and operate in and outside of the pocket.

Although he is not listed as a member of the 2006 class, expect to see Matt Dunham get some playing time at fullback (along with returner Joe Surrat), if he can show he is a capable blocker. We also might see the latest Sims family legacy, Marcus, get some playing time in the offensive backfield, if he's not redshirted. The always posed question of "why don't we pass to the tight end" might also cease to exist with the addition of Brandon Warren. With seniors Matt Henshaw, Donnie Carter and Matt Root's departures, Warren is in place to make a huge impact on this young team if he can win the starting position against Charlie Graham.

Florida State's defense has always shined and I doubt this year will be any different. With no front runners for strong safety, Myron Rolle is sure to stand out this year, and will make some major contributions to this young team, something few defensive incoming freshman have done (with the exceptions of Deion Sanders, Terrell Buckley, and Ernie Sims). Another defensive newbie to watch out for next season is Justin Mincey, not only for his sheer size, but his speed and strength.

As for the other "losses" of players for reasons other than graduation or the draft, I can only say that while I am disappointed to see their talent leave, I am not sad they took the friction with them. Now the true leaders of the team, like Lorenzo Booker and company, can have the opportunity to build better unity and perhaps bring back the "swagger" we have all grown to love and miss. If all goes as planned, we may just produce another upset in game one, only this time, at "The Orange." See you there.

Dear Cowgirl - I know this girl and I think that she is really into me and I think I like her too. As a girl, what do you like guys to do to impress you without doing too much? Also, do girls like guys that play hard to get? If so, what way is it most effective? Thanks for you help!
Paul, Pensacola, Fla.

Dear Paul: First things first, I believe in treating people the way you would want to be treated. If a guy plays games with me, I'll give him a taste of his own medicine. It's only fair. Besides eventually the chase is no fun, and these guys are only seen as players (and not of the sports kind). If I wanted to date Milton Bradley, I would.

Don't go out of your way to be something you're not (i.e. spending ridiculous amounts of money, being fake, etc.) It wastes not only your time but hers, because she's not getting to know the real you, but your "Rico Suave, super macho, alter ego." Smart women can usually spot this kind of guy right away, and we pay him MINIMAL attention. If you HAVE to do something for her, spend time with her doing something you BOTH enjoy. It's no fun sitting through 'The Notebook,' if all you're going to do later is bitch and moan about how lame it was. All in all, I just believe in being honest with the other person involved. I've had guys many times put up the front that they thought I would want only to turn into the complete opposite and it only caused me problems and heartache. Be yourself. End of story.

Do you need some relationship advice? Having a problem with a friend? Want to know what really goes through a girl's mind. Email Jenn at feedback@sioncampus.com and she'll do her best to answer your questions.
