The WPFL is going into its eighth season, which will make it the longest running women's pro football league in history. So why will this league continue to succeed and flourish when so many others before it have failed? I spoke with the WPFL Director of Media Relations, Jody Taylor. She credits the amazing players and coaches that are in the league and their dedication and hard work that have gone into it. The league has a very strict set of guidelines and policies, which try to mirror the NFL. Between the staff, the structure, and help from the media, the WPFL has been set up to go far. I think that it's going to take a lot of support from fans, too. I really believe that fans help make the team, like with the Packers and Badgers (I couldn't help myself with that one). Taylor also believes that the WPFL is in for its best season yet. The Dallas Diamonds will be aiming for their third championship, and all teams have improved to a new competitive level. All I have to say is, watch out Dallas! There are a few new teams on the rise who are really gonna fight you all the way. Oh, and by the way, the 2006 schedule has just been posted. Now you can all go to the Web site and find out if there will be a game in your area so you can come see what we're all about. Yes, there are a lot of people out there who simply think that women aren't tough enough to play this sport. But try giving birth. Then we'll talk about pain and tolerance.
