The sexual-assault case against USC quarterback Mark Sanchez is considered weak, according to sources close to the investigation. But the fact Wednesday's hearing was delayed should not be interpreted as a sign of the case's merits, according to the district attorney's office.

The Atlantic Coast Conference will play its 2009 baseball tournament at Fenway Park, down the street from the league's newest member, Boston College. It will be the first league tournament in Boston since the Eagles joined the conference last year. During the tournament the Red Sox will take a 10-game trip.

ACC commissioner John Swofford said the league will support legislation to expand the NCAA Tournament and would also push to strengthen the qualifications of those sitting on the tournament selection committee. The league managed just four tournament berths in the 65-team field. Swofford said the league's leaders also expressed concern over the makeup of the 10-member selection committee, which included seven representative from mid-major or small conferences, some of which lacked basketball backgrounds.

Charlotte was left out and Greensboro was the big winner Wednesday when ACC officials voted to award men's basketball tournament sites from 2011 through 2015. The tournament will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum in 2011 and 2013-15. The Georgia Dome in Atlanta was awarded the 2012 tournament. The ACC has the ability to opt out of one tournament from 2013 through 2015 in Greensboro and award it to another site. If that happens, Greensboro would get the 2016 tournament.

Stefhon Hannah, a point guard at Chipola College in Marianna, Fla., signed a national letter of intent Wednesday with Kansas State on the final day of the spring signing period. Hannah, a 6-foot-1, 175-pounder, picked K-State over Missouri, UTEP and Illinois State. Hannah, who is from Chicago, averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 3.1 steals as a sophomore.
