Former George Mason star Jai Lewis has signed a contract to play pro basketball in Bosnia and Herzegovina next season. Lewis had pursued an NFL career after signing as a free agent with the New York Giants, but he left the team's training camp in July after deciding his heart wasn't in football. He will play in Sarajevo for Bosna, the Adriatic Basketball Association's two-time defending champion. So, just to recap, Lewis has chosen live in Sarajevo rather than play for authoritarian Giants coach Tom Coughlin. A University of Nebraska freshman won free tuition for a year after winning a Survivor-style competition that required competitors to live in a school bus for a week. The final showdown, which required the three finalists to stand on a pile of textbooks and touch the bus, lasted two-and-a half-hours. Nebraska football coach Bill Callahan lauded the winner's performance, saying he hadn't seen a display of stiffness and lack of mobility like that since the last time he watched Drew Bledsoe play quarterback. Kent State University has finally come up with a way to talk to incoming freshman about the dangers of drugs and alcohol: a giant talking squirrel. Simon the Squirrel will be appearing around to campus to discuss the consequences of ingesting mind-altering substances. I've never met Simon, but from the looks of him, he may not be completely sober himself.
