Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio isn't headed to Alabama to become its new coach, as a few Internet message-board rumors suggested. Del Rio isn't even interested.

If interim head coach Pat Narduzzi is going to be named Cincinnati's new head football coach, it will have to happen by Dec. 6. That's the deadline Narduzzi has given to UC athletic director Mike Thomas to decide whether he wants to keep him on as head coach.

If not, Narduzzi is headed to Michigan State to work as the defensive coordinator under Mark Dantonio.

Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Patrick Nix's name has surfaced in Louisiana in connection with the Tulane head coaching job. "I would be interested, yes," Nix said Wednesday. "I have not talked to anybody."

Kansas basketball coach Bill Self has signed a new contract that ties him to the university for the next five years, a source told The Star on Wednesday night. Self's original, five-year contract  which pays about $1.1 million per year  would've expired in April of 2008.

Florida's fears that Joakim Noah might have mononucleosis like teammate Corey Brewer were put to rest Wednesday. He needs to rest but should be available for Sunday's game at Florida State.

Miami landed a big commitment late Tuesday from 6-6, 215-pound receiver Daniel Adderley from Southside Christian Schools in Simpsonville, S.C. Adderley was being heavily recruited by Tennessee before suffering a season-ending collarbone injury his senior year.

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez acknowledged Wednesday he intends to address the contract of his rookie head coach Bret Bielma. According to financial records obtained by USA Today, Bielema's base compensation package along with "other income" leaves him ahead of only Indiana's Terry Hoeppner in terms of pay among Big Ten coaches.
