He isn't saying, but Loyola is considered the leader. A Loyola assistant was chatting with Jeff's mom, Juanita, after Friday's game. Rutgers landed one of its top remaining in-state targets when it received a verbal commitment from Alex Silvestro of Paulsboro late Tuesday night. Left tackle Jake Long, a redshirt junior, is expected to announce today he will return to Michigan next season. Bradenton Prep receiver Jermaine McKenzie committed to play for Miami, and Tampa Plant's record-breaking quarterback Robert Marve might also pick the Hurricanes. McKenzie and Marve had planned to attend Alabama but those plans could end up changing for both. Texas walk-on quarterback Matt McCoy is working with the first team during Alamo Bowl preparations as the Longhorns wait for starter Colt McCoy to be cleared by team doctors, coach Mack Brown said Wednesday. Brown expects Colt McCoy to be cleared to play, but a decision likely won't be made until the week of the game. An advisory sent to numerous media outlets Wednesday stated that Martez Wilson, the highest-rated player in Illinois, and Bloomington Central Catholic's Josh Brent would reveal their destinations during a Dec. 21 news conference. Simeon High School offensive line coach Paul Phillips didn't directly confirm that Wilson would commit orally to Illinois, but he said the school has told Wilson he will be able to play both offense and defense. Florida center Al Horford suffered a high ankle sprain at practice this week, and coach Billy Donovan said Wednesday that the Gators' leading scorer is questionable for Sunday's game against Florida A&M in Tampa. First-team All-Pacific 10 Conference selection Gabe Pruitt said Wednesday night that his USC teachers told him he had attained the grades necessary to regain his academic eligibility, but it was unclear whether the scores from the junior guard's final exams would be posted in time for him to play against Bethune-Cookman tonight. Jacksonville Ribault wide receiver Chris Summers has committed to Louisville to play football, choosing the Cardinals over South Florida, Cincinnati and others. | |||||||
