Kehl may miss World Cup with injuryPosted: Saturday May 6, 2006 2:15PM; Updated: Saturday May 6, 2006 3:14PM FRANKFURT (Reuters) -- Sebastian Kehl's place in Germany's World Cup squad could be in doubt after the midfielder suffered an ankle injury on Saturday. "It could be a ligament tear," Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told reporters. Kehl suffered the injury late in a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and was due to have further tests on Sunday. The 26-year-old made his comeback for Germany after a long absence in a 4-1 win over the United States in March. Juergen Klinsmann names his World Cup squad on May 15. The hosts get the World Cup underway with a Group A match against Costa Rica in Munich on June 9. Copyright 2006 Reuters Limited. All rights reserved. |
