Hawk Hill in the Green Mountains!
You may have caught my recent post about how the Frost Heaves had signed former St. Joseph's forward John Bryant. Well, we've just signed Tyrone Barley, the 6-2 point guard and former Atlantic-10 Sixth Man of the Year who joined Bryant, Pat Carroll, Delonte West and Jameer Nelson on that fabulous Hawks team of two seasons ago, the one that navigated the regular season without a loss.
When I walked into each of our two whiskered venues for the first time, I thought of Philadelphia's Palestra. Now we've got some legitimate Big Five guys to fill them up with.
Only Frost Heave sweating right now is Bump the Moose, who knows the St. Joe's Hawk has to flap its wings throughout the game. Better work on wiggling those antlers, Bump.
Gotta jump. But will be back soon with the big news from this weekend's league meetings in Indy, from which I'm flying back. You want a hint? Let's just say, the CBA put Isiah in charge only to wind up disappearing for a year. If the ABA goes down under the leadership of the former NBA star who was just named our commissioner, at least we're going down laughing.
