GREENSBORO, N.C. -- It's finally here, folks: America's national hoops holiday. Thirty-two games in 48 hours. Thirty-two chances to witness some of the coolest moments in sports. Thirty-two reasons to call in sick and scarf down a few thousand Doritos.

The 'Bag (NCAA tournament edition) is here to enlighten, to probe, to ask a few questions heading into the maw of the Madness. To wit:

• Which No. 12 seeds will pull off their annual first-round upsets?

Crazy but true: Over the past five years No. 12-seeds are nearly .500 (9-11) against No. 5-seeds in the first round. How do we explain this? Well, 12-seeds are often champions of mid- and low-major conferences, while 5-seeds are often middle-of-the-packers from the power conferences. We like Utah State to upset Washington thanks to an expert slow-it-down game plan by Aggies coach Stew Morrill. Another potential 5-12 upset: Texas A&M over Syracuse. The Orange had a great Big East tourney run, but A&M's Joseph Jones is one of the nation's most underrated big men.

I still think Syracuse will survive into Round 2, however. Here's my bracket if you're interested.

• Which team is literally upset -- and about to be upset because of it?

Take a bow, George Washington. No, the 26-2 Colonials didn't deserve an 8-seed, but now that they've gotten one it wouldn't surprise us at all to see them fall to dangerous ninth-seed UNC-Wilmington, one of the nation's top defensive teams.

• Is the Missouri Valley legit?

The MVC has been the nation's most upwardly mobile conference this season, and we think they'll show why in the tournament. The 'Bag's bracket has two MVC teams reaching the Sweet 16: Southern Illinois (after upsetting West Virginia and Iowa) and Wichita State (following a takedown of Tennessee). Unlike certain CBS announcers, we've actually seen a few Missouri Valley games this season and know what to expect.

• Who's in the 'Bag's Final Four? Duke, UConn, Kansas, Ohio State. We like Duke to win it all. After it's all said and done, people will look back at the Blue Devils' two-game ACC losing streak at the end of the regular season and consider it the best thing that happened to them.

• How did Tennessee get a 2-seed and Pittsburgh a 5-seed?

You got me. As a potential second-round heavyweight bout, it would be hard to match Kansas-Pittsburgh, which might be the two best teams in the entire Oakland region. Then again, there are some amazing potential second-round matchups out there, including Michigan State-North Carolina and Oklahoma-Florida.

• Could 16-seed Oral Roberts pull off the unthinkable and beat No. 1-seed Memphis? Probably not. But I still think Oral Roberts has as good a chance as any 16-seed in the history of the tournament to pull off the Upset to End All Upsets. Caleb Green and Ken Tutt can play, and Scott Sutton is one of the nation's top young coaches. Tigers beware...

• What is it with coaches and fancy wine these days? First came Mike Krzyzewski's American Express print ads ("Indulgence: Fine Wine"), and now Arizona coach Lute Olson appears on the back page of the latest Wine Spectator magazine for a Q&A.

We learn not only that college hoops' Cary Grant owns a 10-year vertical of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, but also this little nugget:

WS: How often do you drink wine?

LO: The French recommendation is to drink two glasses of wine a day, but the Swedes recommend six. I'm Norwegian, which is a lot closer to Swedish, so I follow the Swedish recommendation.

Zoiks. Let's just say that now we know the secret to Lute's Fountain of Youth. Party at the Olson house next week! (Hassan Adams not invited...)

Enjoy the games everyone. We'll be back for some more quick-hitters as the tournament rolls on...
