Five Things I Think I Think

1. I think, as I say tonight on Inside the NFL, that the Redskins will be a major player in the Terrell Owens sweepstakes before it's all done. And I think the Eagles, who a month ago were pretty sure they'd just release Owens instead of hanging on to him to try to get something in trade, now might actually get a mid-round or slightly better pick for him

2. I think tomorrow's media availability with Jerome Bettis will be the last one until after Sunday's game. Some of my peers will say "Thank God'' to that. "I'm about to be the most unpopular man in Detroit,'' said Bettis' high school buddy and Guy Friday, Jamal Dokes. "I'm about to shut off the spigot.'' Bettis actually could play a substantial role in the game. The dude needs his rest now.

3. I think Walter Jones has the biggest head I've ever seen. If that's not a size 9 melon, my name's Derek Jeter.

4. I think if the people in this town were any friendlier, they'd all work for the Welcome Wagon.

5. I think Joey Porter said it all when asked if the Steelers had an edge because they had the tougher route to get here. "It doesn't matter when you get to this game. Seattle didn't win all those games just by showing up. They have the MVP and their quarterback's playing really well. How they got here is how they got here.''

Media Note of the Day

I really wanted to go have a few Labatts over in Windsor, Ontario, one of these nights. I can see the city from my hotel window. In fact, I'm looking across the river right now at Casino Windsor. But we're told at the hotel that unless we have our passports -- which I don't travel with -- we shouldn't go over to Canada. Easy to get over there with a driver's license, but we well might be staying overnight, waiting for our passports to be FedExed. Something about tightening security at the borders. Good idea, but my guess is it's not going to be very good for the Canadian economy that the Yanks aren't coming over the border much this week.
