This report aims to help fantasy owners make wise trade decisions throughout the season. Sometimes fantasy owners use their head; other times they make trades that have disastrous results.

We asked readers to send us their best and worst trades of 2006 and we received hundreds of responses. The most common names in the submissions: Chad Johnson, Ronnie Brown and Carnell Williams. Those who dealt for Johnson midway through the season received huge benefits. Those who dealt for Williams or Brown suffered the consequences.

Here are a few of the submissions we received:

The Best

Right after Matt Leinart played well on Monday night against the Bears, I traded him and Reggie Bush for Steven Jackson. My backfield is LaDainian Tomlinson and Steven Jackson in a 14-team league. Needless to say, I am in the Championship Game thanks to this trade.
-- Chad Ehle

I traded the Ravens defense and Deuce McAllister for Darrell Jackson and Frank Gore, right in time for (Gore's) explosion in the second half of the season. This trade proved to be the next step for me as I made the championship with the two hottest backs in football on my team in Gore and Tomlinson.
-- Chuck, Halifax, Nova Scotia

I traded Eric Parker and Reggie Williams for Jason Witten and Maurice Jones-Drew. The other owner needed starting WRs (already had Winslow at TE), and it was at Reggie's peak, and Eric was just starting to come on with consistent seven-point games. I rode Jones-Drew all the way from a 2-6 start to the championship game. Oh, by the way, it's a keeper league/salary draft, and he will cost me $4 next year ($200 salary cap).
-- Kirk, Dallas

One owner thought LT too slow out of the gate by the third week. I got LT and Brees for Bulger and Ronnie Brown. Color me champ and the trade master.
-- Craig Dahlstrom

My best trade of the year was with my co-worker, so I get to talk about it all the time when he's around. I gave him Grossman and Ronnie Brown and I got Bulger and Chad Johnson. This was the week before the Chicago-Arizona game and he was SURE that he swindled me.
-- Doug Bullinger

Week 8 of the season I traded Keyshawn Johnson and Chris Chambers for Drew Brees. Week 8 is when Brees started his streak of five straight 300-yard games. At the time of the trade, the person I traded with had McNabb and needed receivers, so the trade was consummated. With hindsight being 20/20, teaming Brees with LT and Steve Smith allowed me to advance to the championship.
-- Alder Derose

I traded Carnell Williams for Chad Johnson just before Chad had his back-to-back breakout games! Best trade I ever made.
-- Larry Fickenwirth
