| The Panthers could take some solace in their 59-0 loss at Penn State on Saturday: At least they weren't the team that had to help clean up Beaver Stadium afterwards. The Nittany Lions returned to their home turf before 8 a.m. Sunday as part of a team-wide punishment for off-the-field incidents during the summer. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the players spent nearly 90 minutes cleaning a portion of the stadium, but not the whole thing, which seats 107,282. Coach Joe Paterno supervised but did not participate for fear of becoming the focus of the cleanup publicity. "For me to go out there and take a broom -- you know -- pictures will be all over and you won't even know the kids did it," he said. "It'll be Paterno, back to where he should be, sweeping." |
