| The streak is over for Boilermakers quarterback Curtis Painter. The NCAA's interception leader in 2006 began '07 on a stunningly stingy tear, going 140 pass attempts -- including 14 touchdown passes -- before throwing his first interception. The pick occurred in the third quarter against Minnesota on Saturday, but was of little consequence: Purdue went on to win the game 45-31 and improve to 4-0. The new leader in the most-TD-passes-without-a-pick standings is Clemson's Cullen Harper, with 12. Oregon's Dennis Dixon and Kentucky's Andre Woodson are right behind Harper at 11. |

Michigan revived itself with a huge, 14-9 upset of No. 10 Penn State on Saturday in both teams' conference opener. Given that Wisconsin has looked uninspired, the Michigan-Ohio State game is at the Big House, and running back Mike Hart is on a mission, the idea of an 8-4 Wolverines team in the Rose Bowl, while still somewhat improbable, is possible. |

A&M's Jorvorskie Lane, the 277-pound running back who starred in a triple-overtime win over Fresno State on Sept. 8 -- saying afterward, "I could have went all day if I had to" -- did not get a single first-half carry against Miami on Thursday. It took 38 minutes of game-time for Lane to get his first touch, and by that point, the Aggies were down 24-0. Lane's line for the night: two carries, two yards. No wonder A&M lost 34-17. |

The school said it was for "personal reasons," but does anyone really think the timing was a coincidence? |
