College Football Power Rankings: 26-119
RANK LAST WEEK TEAM
51 79
The Huskies check in at No. 51 here, but clearly there are folks who think that's far too low of a ranking. UConn received three votes in this week's AP poll, all of them coming on a No. 23 ranking from Doug Doughty of the Roanoke (Va.) Times. The Huskies picked up 24 votes in the Harris Poll as well, buoyed by their 34-14 win over Pitt on Saturday. Randy Edsall's boys are 4-0, but given that three of those wins came against Maine (not a I-A team), Temple and Duke, does that really put them in the top 25?

Did Syracuse trump Appalachian State? The 'Cuse's 38-35 win over Louisville on Saturday was, in Vegas terms, the biggest college football upset ever -- or at least since they've been keeping odds. The Orange were a 36.5-point underdog coming into the game, making them bigger longshots than previous world-shockers App. State (a 33-point 'dog to Michigan, even though there was no "official" spread), '98 Temple (35-point 'dogs to Virginia Tech) and '85 Oregon State (36-point 'dogs to Washington). As the New York Times said on Sunday, "it seems that Syracuse is in the record book, as they say in gambling speak, by a hook."

The Owls are seeking out an endorsement deal with Ralph Lauren. A new defensive star -- freshman defensive back Tavious Polo -- has emerged in FAU's miraculous climb out of the bottom 20 of these rankings and into the top 75. Polo leads the nation in interceptions per game, with six picks through four contests, and has already exceeded the Owls' season record of four, previously held by Willie Hughley. Of his incredible run -- Polo is the only freshman in the top 30 of the national INT standings -- he told FAU's University Press, "I?ve been in the right spot all the time."
