The Matt Forte/40 campaign fell two short on Saturday, as the Green Wave's rushing sensation was only given the ball 38 times in a 34-19 win over UTEP. Despite the meager workload, Forte gained 171 yards and scored two touchdowns, maintaining his lead in the national rushing race over UCF's Kevin Smith. The gap between the two backs has shrunken considerably, though, after Smith gashed UAB for 320 yards on Saturday.
