Dick still starting at QB for ArkansasPosted: Wednesday November 14, 2007 11:01PM; Updated: Wednesday November 14, 2007 11:01PM LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- Casey Dick is still Arkansas' starting quarterback after being pulled during last weekend's loss to Tennessee. Coach Houston Nutt said the junior will remain at the top of the depth chart for Saturday's matchup with Mississippi State. Dick was 12-of-22 passing for 140 yards and two interceptions in a 34-13 loss to the Volunteers. Nathan Emert came in and was 3-for-6 for 22 yards. He also had an interception run back for a touchdown. Nutt said Dick needs to focus on avoiding mistakes and not try to do too much. "Do what he's been doing most of the year, and that's handling the game," Nutt said. "Take care of the ball and throw it to our guys and turn it loose and don't worry about nothing." Dick has completed 55 percent of his passes for 1,205 yards with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions. With stars Darren McFadden and Felix Jones at running back, Dick hasn't been asked to do too much. McFadden ran for 117 yards last weekend, but Arkansas fell behind early and trailed 20-3 at halftime. "We didn't execute as a team as a whole," Dick said. "We all know that it takes 11." Trailing 27-3, Dick went 3-for-5 on a drive that ended in a field goal. On the following drive, he helped the Razorbacks into field goal range again, but with the team facing a three-touchdown deficit, the Razorbacks went for it on fourth down and turned the ball over when Dick's pass for Peyton Hillis fell incomplete. Emert came in on the next drive. It was around this time last year when Dick replaced Mitch Mustain as Arkansas' starter. In fact, Dick's first start of the 2006 season was in a November win over Tennessee. CARROLLTON, Ga. (AP) -- An Alabama teenager reported missing last week and found dead in Georgia died from a self-inficted gunshot, authorities said Wednesday. Carroll County Coroner Sammy Eady said the cause of death of Benjamin Stanford, 17, of Lincoln, Ala., was "contact gunshot of the head." The sheriff's department said the investigation would continue. "Although the autopsy has been completed, there's several other things that we need to do investigative-wise," Chief Deputy Brad Robinson said. He said that on Thursday, members of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office would meet with local, Alabama Bureau of Investigation Division and Federal Bureau of Investigation personnel in Stanford's hometown. "We want to make sure every question, hopefully, is answered," Robinson said. The teenager's body was found by volunteers who came from Alabama to search after he disappeared Nov. 5. His silver Jeep Grand Cherokee was found near a Villa Rica exit on Interstate 20 that day, and the body was found about 1,000 feet away. Stanford was a senior at The Donoho School in Anniston, Ala., and the grandson of Alabama state Sen. Jim Preuitt, D-Talladega. Copyright 2007 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
