PACIFIC PALISADES, California (Reuters) - J.J. Henry has earned a late entry to next week's WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Tucson, Arizona where he will face Tiger Woods in the first round.

Henry gained a maiden spot in the 64-player field when South Africa's Charl Schwartzel withdrew on Sunday from the opening World Golf Championships (WGC) event of the year.

Schwartzel has opted instead to compete in next week's South African PGA Championship to maintain his grip on the 2006-2007 Sunshine Tour order of merit.

The 22-year-old, who tied for eighth at the Vodacom Championship in Pretoria on Sunday, is bidding to win his country's order of merit title for the third year in a row.

"I am pretty excited," U.S. Ryder Cup player Henry told reporters after closing with a three-under-par 68 in the Nissan Open at Riviera Country Club.

"Having the opportunity to play Tiger, how could you not relish a chance to play the best player in the world?

"I got to know him a little bit last year with the Ryder Cup and stuff so I'm really looking forward to it. It will be a lot of fun.

"This will be my first chance to play in the Match Play event," added the 31-year-old, whose only PGA Tour victory came at last year's Buick Championship.

"Although we don't get a chance to do it much, I love playing match play. I make a lot of birdies and I always felt match play was a strength in my game."

Henry will take on world number one Woods in Wednesday's first round at Dove Mountain's Gallery Golf Club.

Woods, who won the prestigious title in 2003 and 2004, will be hunting an eighth consecutive victory on the PGA Tour.

U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy of Australia will defend the title he won last year at La Costa Resort where he beat American Davis Love III 3&2 in the 36-hole final.
