Pittsburgh landed a commitment from Johnstown (Pa.) Bishop McCort defensive tackle Jones. The Panthers gave a grayshirt offer to the 6-foot-4, 320-pounder. ... Former Pittsburgh commitment Xavier Stinson changed his commitment this week to Florida Atlantic. The 5-foot-8, 214-pound running back also had offers from Colorado, Iowa, Rutgers and Wisconsin. ... The Panthers are awaiting word from defensive end Sheard. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder will announce a decision, and Pittsburgh appears to be in good position.
Homestead, Fla., safety Joseph Nicolas will be making a final decision on Signing Day. The 6-foot-3, 198-pounder originally committed to the Scarlet Knights in December, but he has since taken a visit to Miami. The three-star prospect claims there are no leaders between the two schools, and said he'll follow his heart with a decision on Wednesday. ... Rutgers is one of three early leaders for Miami (Fla.) Northwestern quarterback Jacory Harris. The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder is favoring the Scarlet Knights along with Miami and Southern Cal.
Three-star offensive tackle Thomas Edenfield is favoring South Florida. The 6-foot-5, 279-pounder is believed to be very close to committing to the Bulls . ... Mobile (Ala.) McGill-Toolen offensive tackle Jake Lanefski didn't make the trip to South Florida this weekend and will stick with his pledge to Kentucky. ... South Florida is one of a few schools to have already offered 2008 linebacker Lerentee McCray. The Dunnellon, Fla., prospect claims the Bulls are one of his early favorites as well along with Miami, Florida State, Arkansas, Florida and Virginia Tech. ... Defensive end Claude Davis committed to South Florida over offers from Ohio and Toledo.
Syracuse will be waiting for news from New Berlin (N.Y.) Milford Academy defensive end Ishmyl Johnson on Signing Day. The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder is currently a soft commitment to Michigan State, but claims he'll have a final decision between the Spartans and the Orange on Wednesday. ... The Orange were one of two finalists for Wayne (N.J.) Depaul cornerback Chaz Cervino. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder choose Syracuse over Colorado. Syracuse offered a full scholarship compared to Colorado's grayshirt.
Devine made his official visit to West Virginia this past weekend and initial reports were positive. As it turns out, Devine enjoyed his visit enough to commit to the Mountaineers. Devine was expected to take an official visit to Florida State this weekend and decide between the Mountaineers, Seminoles and Alabama. Apparently, he changed his mind. "Noel committed to West Virginia," said North Fort Myers coach James Iandoli of his 5-foot-8, 170-pound superstar. "Call it gut, a good feeling, comfort. Whatever you want to call it, he feels great about them." ... Three-star wide receiver Kyrus Lanxter will announce a final decision on Wednesday. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder out of Alcoa, Tenn., originally committed to West Virginia in September. However, he appears to be leaning toward Kentucky at this point. The Mountaineers have already offered Lanxter's teammate, 2008 cornerback Brian Sommer. The 6-foot, 195-pounder also has offers from Tennessee, South Carolina and Mississippi.
