Roush Racing driver Greg Biffle has proposed to longtime girlfriend Nicole Lunders. The pair, who met eight years ago during Biffle's first season of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition, became engaged in their home state of Washington over the Christmas holidays. Biffle, according to a NASCAR press release, admitted he'd felt the pressure to commit in recent years. Ricky Rudd closed the final session of the first week of preseason testing at Daytona with the fastest speed. Rudd, making his return to Nextel Cup racing in the No. 88 Robert Yates Racing Ford, turned a lap of 186.405 mph that was the quickest of the 16 teams left for the last session this morning. The test was added as a makeup for Monday afternoon's session, which was rained out. TNT wants to add some wrinkles for the prime-time July 7 Pepsi 400. Trish Frohman, TNT executive vice president, hopes to enlist 12 advertisers -- she says Pepsi, DirecTV and pain reliever 360 OTC are in -- to air branded content, running up to two minutes, in about a quarter of the TV screen as race shots continue. Kerry Earnhardt will join Dale Earnhardt Inc. as a full-time employee next week, serving as a liaison between the Nextel Cup and Busch programs and driving in a handful of races. Jacques Villeneuve may still be trying to put together a deal to race in NASCAR this season, but he announced he has signed a contract to drive in the famed 24 Hours of LeMans in June with Peugeot. In addition to running the full ARCA Series schedule, Carter-2-Motorsports will also leap into the premier series of NASCAR for four races in the later stages of the year. Carter-2-Motorsports will attempt to make their Nextel Cup Series debut at New Hampshire International Speedway and close out their rookie season at Atlanta Motor Speedway in late October. The team also plans to fun at Kansas Speedway in Sept. and Lowe's Motor Speedway in Oct. Greg Biffle will test the COT [Car of Tomorrow] at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham, N.C. on Thursday, Jan 18th. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
