Chan Gailey's coaching future could be settled today, according to one of Georgia Tech's most prized football recruiting prospects. Morgan Burnett, who committed to Tech last week, said the Yellow Jackets' coach "just told me about the whole situation" involving his candidacy for the Miami Dolphins' job and suggested there should be some resolution "sometime around Thursday."

The NCAA is pondering the possibility of pushing the women's NCAA Tournament forward one week (deeper into April) to keep the Women's Final Four away from any conflict with the conclusion of the men's tournament.

Dolphins quarterbacks coach Jason Garrett seems to be in demand at several universities. Garrett reportedly turned down Alabama coach Nick Saban for the offensive coordinator job. He has been linked to a similar role at LSU, and according to a report in the Times Record (Ark.), Garrett was considered for the same position at Arkansas.

Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops spent the last two days in Texas recruiting for the Wildcats and wouldn't say whether he interviewed for the Rice head coaching job in Houston. Stoops is considered a "serious" candidate for the position.

As Gary Crowton was being introduced as Louisiana State's new offensive coordinator Wednesday, Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said the result of their collaboration, the Ducks' spread-option offense, will stay. Running back Jonathan Stewart said he would welcome more traditional sets, such as an I-formation, along with the spread-out style.
