Peter Forsberg. Keith Tkachuk. Fredrik Modin. Todd Bertuzzi. Bill Guerin. The NHL trade deadline is three weeks away, and the list of players the Red Wings might be interested in seems to grow by the day. General manager John Ferguson twice yesterday used the term "positive" to describe his recent dealings with Tucker's Seattle-based agent, Carlos Sosa. And it's known Sosa was in Toronto this week where Tucker has been laid up in a cast, before Sosa took a flight home last night.

Nearing the end of their off-day workout, New York coach Tom Renney spent about 15 minutes looking at new power-play units. One of the combinations Renney looked at included recently acquired Sean Avery. The group consisted of Brendan Shanahan, Jason Krog and Avery up front, with Karel Rachunek and Matt Cullen at the point positions. Avery seemed to add a little enthusiasm to a what-would-be second unit.

Blues owner Dave Checketts said that he has been heavily involved in attempting to add a minority partner. Checketts acknowledged that Sports Capital Partners had one group in mind but declined to disclose its identity.

The public should have the right to buy the Pittsburgh Penguins, former Allegheny County Commissioner Mike Dawida argued yesterday, in a letter to the state's U.S. senators and three congressmen.
