Hyder didn't do it. In fact, he claims he can't. Norris said Hyder maintained his innocence -- even with the company promise of no termination in exchange for information. Kevin Harvick likely won't be wearing his Shell sponsorship logos quite so prominently this weekend at California Speedway. Harvick's team has been asked to utilize logos representing the Pennzoil automotive lubricant part of the company more prominently instead of the dominant Shell logo associated with the company's gasoline in an effort to play down any perceived competition with Sunoco, the official fuel of NASCAR. Ambitious plans for Haas-Carter Motorsports call for expansion to a two-car team as soon as possible, a couple of Nextel Cup starts for rookie Kyle Krisiloff late this season and a full-time move to Cup as early as next year. Much of that hinges on sponsorship, with Clabber Girl currently on the car. Seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Richard Petty joined executives of International Speedway Corp. to meet with members of the Washington state House of Representatives and the Washington state Senate yesterday and this morning in an effort to generate interest in construction of a proposed track in the state. Teams in all three NASCAR series will run the same tire codes this weekend at California Speedway, though the Nextel Cup and Busch Series tires will be branded "Goodyear Eagle," while the Craftsman Truck tires will be branded "Goodyear Wrangler." This is the first time Goodyear has brought this specific combination of left- and right-side tires to the track . The NASCAR Busch Series could be two entrants short of a full field this weekend at California Speedway. Only 41 cars are here for inspection today for the Stater Bros. 300, although teams could pull out backup cars to fill the field. Practice does not begin until Friday morning. Race fans may do a double take when they see the Haas CNC Racing entries take to the track at California Speedway this weekend. While the car numbers and drivers will be the same, the sponsors will swap spots on the two Haas Chevys. Johnny Sauter, whose primary sponsor is normally Yellow Transportation, will instead carry the Best Buy logos on his No. 70 entry this weekend. Jeff Green's No. 66 car, which usually carries a blue and yellow Best Buy paint design, will instead be sponsored by Yellow Transportation. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
