The Dynamo's most creative player will be missing from the starting lineup Wednesday night when they face Mexican side Pachuca in the first leg of a home-and-home Champions' Cup semifinal series at Robertson Stadium. If -- and that's a big if -- midfielder Dwayne De Rosario (hamstring) sees any action against the Tuzos, it will be as a second-half substitute. According to a source with knowledge of the transaction, Toronto FC has filled its hole on the left side of midfield. The team will soon announce the acquisition of winger Andy Welsh, a native of Manchester who played this season at Leicester City on loan from Sunderland. Milan moved a step closer to securing the sensational purchase of Ronaldinho last night when the player's agent met with club officials. Corriere dello Sport claims that Roberto Assis dined with Galliani and met with another of his players, Milan striker Ricardo Oliveira. Milan will have to shatter the world record transfer fee to get their man. Spurs are thought to be ready to match Barcelona, when it comes to bidding for Chelsea's Arjen Robben. The Holland international winger will cost at least £16m. Add to that figure, the £8.2m that Spurs will have to fork out for Racing Santander's Nikola Zigic takes the grand total to £24.2m. Bolton and Juventus are also chasing Zigic. According to reports, Chelsea and Liverpool have made an enquiry for highly-rated right back Daniel Alves and could swoop for the 26-year-old in the summer. Sevilla have made known that Alves will be available in the next transfer window and are reportedly asking £13m for the player. Manchester City Football Club are keen to win the race for David Nugent. The Blues are in dire relegation trouble as the league campaign enters its business end, and if they avoid the drop, manager Stuart Pearce will launch a £6million bid for Nugent to avoid a repeat of their troubles this term. Old Trafford witnessed a very public love-in on Tuesday as David Beckham and Alex Ferguson seemingly buried the hatchet amid a multitude of compliments. Ferguson -- who once famously kicked a boot in the midfielder's face in a fit of anger -- repaid Beckham's earlier platitudes. Manchester United striker Alan Smith has insisted that he has no intention of leaving the club. The England international is well down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with manager Alex Ferguson seemingly still not convinced about Smith's possible contribution to the team. Spanish daily newspaper AS has reported that Liverpool is interested in signing Athletic Bilbao youngster Mikel San Jose Dominguez. If he chooses to join Liverpool, it is believed that Athletic would only receive somewhere in the region of 100,000 euro (£69,000) as a means of compensation for San Jose. Claude Makelele's agent has rubbished reports that the Frenchman is considering leaving club. It is reported that the former Real Madrid star is unhappy that Chelsea are only willing to offer him a 12-month contract extension on his present deal that still has over a year to run. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
