Brendan Gaughan's South Point Racing Chevrolet, Ken Schrader's Bobby Hamilton Racing Dodge, Todd Bodine's Germain Racing Toyota, Matt Crafton's ThorSport Racing Chevrolet and Willie Allen's ThorSport Racing Chevrolet were tested on the chassis dyno machine in the garage immediately after the race. Goodyear Tire Co. officials reiterated Friday their testing policy is to only allow the drivers originally invited to participate and any deviation from that requires NASCAR approval. NASCAR vice president Jim Hunter said that Juan Pablo Montoya was granted permission to take a few laps because he has never been on the Darlington track in any car previously. Montoya's participation raised the ire of many teams. Home state driver Bill Elliott will race at AMS this weekend, but it won't be in a NASCAR car. He's scheduled to drive a Thunder Roadster after Saturday's Busch Series race. Elliott said Thursday that he has no plans to run in Cup, but expects that to change soon. Steve Park, whose last NASCAR race was in a Busch car at O'Reilly Raceway Park last August, was in the garage at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday knocking on doors in the hopes of finding a ride for 2007. Kyle Busch and his No. 5 Kellogg's/CARQUEST team will test a Car of Tomorrow Tuesday at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C., to prepare for the April 1 Nextel Cup Series event at Martinsville Speedway. Rusty Wallace, Incorporated (RWI) announced that 17-year old short track phenom, Chase Austin, has joined RWI Racing's driver development program. This program will see Austin behind the wheel of an RWI No. 66 Dodge Charger for the entire 14-race NASCAR Busch East Series. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
