Will the Nuggets make Marcus Camby available in a trade after the season?

Nene is showing a post-up game and some rebounding desire he didn't seem to possess since losing weight after knee surgery. With his contract extension, the Nuggets go well over the luxury-tax threshold and the rumor is the team will look to move Marcus Camby this summer for financial reasons despite his defensive play.

Now that the Pacers' hopes of making the playoffs have expired, the same might be true for Jermaine O'Neal's season. Perhaps his career with the Pacers, too. O'Neal acknowledged the possibility of sitting out the Pacers' final two games. O'Neal also will sit down with management when the season ends. He has talked repeatedly of the possibility of seeking a trade but has recently toned down that stance.

Lakers forward Luke Walton showed up with a closely cropped haircut that Phil Jackson couldn't resist turning into a punch line. "I think it's just that he wants to kind of emulate Britney Spears," Jackson said. Walton has been inaccurately linked to Spears romantically in tabloid reports.

While Texas A&M's Acie Law IV and perhaps Ohio State's Mike Conley will be available when the Sonics draft in June, coach Bob Hill said he wouldn't suggest the club take a point guard and expect that player to produce next season. The Sonics lack a point guard of size and likely need to add a physical point perhaps in place of Luke Ridnour or Earl Watson.

The Bucks have major decisions to make regarding their own free agents -- Mo Williams, Ruben Patterson, Charlie Bell and Earl Boykins -- and will have a high first-round pick in the draft. The Bucks could take care of the point guard spot by re-signing Williams, and they may be able to address the power position in the draft.

Will Bucks owner and Sen. Herb Kohl keep his faith in general manager Larry Harris? Kohl, who attended the Bucks' game against Charlotte on Saturday night at the Bradley Center, declined to make a comment when asked if Harris was on uncertain ground.

With the playoffs no longer a possibility, one might expect the injury-plagued Steve Francis to shut it down. But with a great deal of uncertainty about his future with the Knicks -- a buyout seems inevitable -- Francis is using this time to re-establish himself as a player who can perform at a high level.

Bonzi Wells, on a two-year, $4.5 million deal, never could get past rejecting a $38.5 million offer from the Kings last summer; he felt he was worth more. It was no coincidence Wells' last game was in Sacramento, where fans taunted him about declining the deal.

The Hawks have decisions to make. The core group of Josh Smith, Joe Johnson, Josh Childress, Marvin Williams, Zaza Pachulia, Shelden Williams and Solomon Jones would appear to be safe, though any one of those assets would be a major bargaining chip in any trade scenario. Esteban Batista, Royal Ivey and Slava Medvedenko have contracts that expire, meaning their careers with the Hawks will probably end.

Larry Hughes, turning out to be a poor fit with LeBron James, gets a $2 million bonus if the Cavaliers win 49 games. Hughes' average salary is $12 million, and last season he got almost $2 million extra when the team reached 47 wins. He has missed substantial parts of both seasons with injuries.

Danny Ainge has one request of Paul Pierce for the upcoming summer -- that the Celtics captain devote himself solely to rehabbing, recovering, and refurbishing for the 2007-08 season. In other words, when Jerry Colangelo calls wondering whether Pierce wants to try out for the U.S. team for the Olympic qualifier, just say, "Thanks, but no thanks."

Already on his fourth round of interviews after Sunday afternoon's 105-100 loss to the Kings, Elton Brand asked a reporter to wait to speak with him privately. Brand was disgusted with the effort of some Clippers teammates, who apparently were unaware the Kings would attempt to win the game.
-- Los Angeles Times

Seven months and a string of stellar performances later, Tarence Kinsey may just have the last laugh. His NBA audition is so serious and highly regarded that Kinsey likely earned a contract extension with the Grizzlies.
-- Memphis Commercial Appeal

Even though the Suns have the second seed wrapped up, they are going for more. Coach Mike D'Antoni will not sit players as Phoenix tries to tie a franchise record for wins tonight.
