No gum was picked back up off the floor and there wasn't a conference title on the line, but a familiar formula came into play against Michigan on Saturday. In each of their past three games, the Buckeyes have trailed during the second half, and have had to scramble to pull out a win. 2. Florida (26-5) Lee Humphrey, Taurean Green, and Corey Brewer in their three losses to Vanderbilt, LSU, and Tennessee shot a combined 28/83, or 33.7%. Joakim Noah, Al Horford, and Chris Richard combined to shoot better than 50% in the same stretch. If the Gators' backcourt replicates the production of the frontcourt, they won't lose another game this year. 3. UCLA (26-4) Maybe the loss to Washington had more to do with the pace and the Bruins' lack of aggressiveness than an inability to contain a big frontcourt. In UCLA's first game against the Huskies, a 96-74 victory in SoCal, they narrowly missed scoring 50 points in the paint. On Saturday, UCLA only scored 22 in the paint and took only seven free throw attempts. 4. Wisconsin (27-4) Alando Tucker scored half of his team's points (26 of 52) for the first time all year. With Brian Butch sitting out with that elbow injury, the basketball is going to be in Tucker's hands a few more times from here on out. 5. North Carolina (25-6) If Gerald Henderson was actually going for the block on Tyler Hansbrough, don't you think he would have had his arm extended? Leading with your elbow is an interesting way to swat a shot. 6. Texas A&M (25-5) First came the Chuck Norris facts. A similar Jack Bauer list, which wasn't nearly as amusing, followed. If Acie Law IV keeps hitting clutch shots in big situations, he might get a fact list of his own. 7. Kansas (27-4) Unless Kansas tops Texas A&M in the Big 12 Championship Game, it'll likely stay behind the Aggies in these rankings. 8. Georgetown (23-6) Maybe the Hoyas are trying to get the Big East well-represented in the tourney. With Syracuse beating Georgetown on Monday, that could mean as many as eight teams from the Big East could get tourney bids. 9. Memphis (27-3) Can the other 11 C-USA teams just forfeit so the Tigers can conserve their energy? 10. Pittsburgh? Nevada? Texas? There are several teams that could qualify for this spot, but does anyone really deserve a Top 10 spot with four losses in the past six games? Let's go with no, which gives Maryland (24-7) the final position on the list. After a loss to Virginia on February 6th, the Terps have rolled to seven straight wins, including two over Duke, one against North Carolina, and road wins over North Carolina State and Clemson. Despite starting 3-6 in the conference, Maryland's seven straight wins helped earn the No. 5 seed in the ACC. SIOC's Bottom Five5) Denver (4-25) The Pioneers wrapped up their regular season with a 36 point loss to Louisiana-Monroe, and were one-and-done in the Sun Belt tournament after losing to Louisiana-Monroe by 16 just six days later. Maybe Denver will beat the Warhawks by four if the two teams meet up to start off next season. 4) Maryland Eastern Shore (4-26) The Hawks are actually heading into the MEAC with a one game winning streak! They'll face sixth seeded Norfolk State on Wednesday, in hopes of losing to the Spartans by only single digits this time around. 3) Idaho (3-26) The Vandals will match up against the 5-24 San Jose State Spartans in a play-in game on Tuesday. The winner of that game earns the right to lose to Nevada by 30. 2) Iona (2-28) Rider got its chance to recover from the embarrassment of being the first team to lose to Iona this season, as they beat the Gaels in the first round of the MAAC tournament. But maybe they put too much stock into beating Iona, because Niagara beat them by 25 in the second round of the conference tourney. 1) North Florida (3-26) There's no post-season for this squad, maybe that's a good thing after throwing up all those losses.
