South Padre Princess (Part 2)Brigid wraps up her spring break in paradisePosted: Thursday April 12, 2007 5:32PM; Updated: Friday April 13, 2007 11:53AM
Brigid Mullen, a senior at Wisconsin, plays defensive back for the Wisconsin Wolves of the Women's Professional Football League and moonlights as an SIOC correspondent. Alright, so although most of what happens on spring break is supposed to stay on spring break, I have a few things that I'd like to leave you with. 1. Girls are luckier than guys simply because we have the opportunity to win money for being in dance and bikini contests. Now I know that may sound like a benefit for all of the burly men in the audience, but in reality, with first place prizes of $150 every night, and 14 hotties, we could pretty much rig which of us got to win every night (and we did)! 2. You may think that a certain empire that has made its fortune on girls going crazy (wink) is awesome ... but really, it's a total setup! They would show up at the clubs every night with their camera crew just to get in your face and try to shove cameras up your skirt when they think you're not looking! Soooo skeezy! And they actually have girls on their staff that are only there to try and dance up on other girls in the club and act, well, unladylike. They offer free drinks to get girls into their VIP area and then tell them, usually off camera, what exactly to do! 3. Spring break is awesome, but March Madness still comes first in my book. And you better believe that I never missed a big game. Every day there were tents set up on the beaches by a sponsor. Each had two huge flat screens playing all the best games, bleachers and multiple places to house your coolers. On the days the Badgers lost to UNLV, and UNC fell to Georgetown, my bosses actually sent me on break early because I was too depressed to work. I had Wisconsin, UNC, Ohio State and Florida in my Final Four! Fifty percent isn't that bad, is it? Well that's enough on Padre. I'd tell you more but there are still certain stories that need to be left on the beach. Some other exciting news is that the WPFL has three new teams this year (putting it at 20): the New Jersey Titans, the Kentucky Valkyries, and the New York Nemesis! If you are interested in trying out, becoming a sponsor, or you just want to check it out, go to http://www.womensprofootball.com/ All 20 teams are already beginning their spring training for our season that starts this August. It's going to be another year of sweating it out with some of the most powerful and dedicated women you've ever met. Oh, and on a side note, I want to give a huge congratulatory shout-out to Kara Linse, the new president of the Eugene Chargers, an International Basketball League team out of Eugene, Ore. Be sure to check back soon for more on our football season and other college athletes. If there's an athlete that you'd love to hear more about or that you think I should feature, shoot me an email at feedback@sioncampus.com. | |||||||||||||
