Calendar GirlBrigid dishes the dirt on her latest swimsuit shootPosted: Thursday June 14, 2007 4:53PM; Updated: Wednesday June 20, 2007 12:39PM
Life has been busy. Between graduating from the University of Wisconsin, preparing for the upcoming football season (my second with the Wisconsin Wolves), training in Colorado and work, I was able to fit in a photo shoot for the annual Tempe 12 Calendar. The company recruited girls off of Facebook and held a contest on their site to determine which girls would be chosen for the two calendars: Girls of the Big Ten and the Pac-10. After only a week to get into bikini shape, we were flown to Scottsdale for a three-day shoot. After arriving, I met the 11 other girls who I would be living with for the weekend. They were beautiful, mostly blonde and all very sweet and down-to-earth. On a typical day, we'd receive a 4:30 a.m. wake-up call (gotta catch the good sun), shower and arrive at the mansion, where the shoot was taking place, by 6 a.m. The next couple hours were a blur or avoiding the documentary film crews (did I mention this was all being recorded for a DVD?) and tracking down a stylist to do our hair and make-up. Then, we'd spend an hour digging through boxes of skimpy bikinis trying to find one that actually covers your behind and accents all the right features (this usually required nine different outfits because the producer and photographer seldom agreed on what looks best) and another hour or two doing modeling sponsor clothing while hanging out with pro basketball players (including Indiana's Ike Diogu), marines, and other guys who happened to show up on this particular day. Finally, we'd get all oiled and bronzed up and do the calendar shoot, which consisted of trying to come up with as many seductive faces and flattering poses as possible in the 15 minutes with each suit.
We had on-camera confessionals dish the day, where we'd spill about who had attitude, whose were "real" and whose were ... enhanced, how it's hard to look this girlie wearing a helmet and shoulder pads (at least that's what I was complaining about) and how awkward it really is to wear five-inch heels with a bathing suit in front of a nine-person crew (with six different cameras!) Overall it was an amazing experience that I would do again in a heartbeat. We'll be having huge release parties at all of the Big Ten and Pac-10 schools giving the calendars away for free this fall in case you want a new addition to your wall. I can't promise to be at all of the Big Ten parties because a lot of them are on the same days that the Women's Professional Football League has games, but if I have to decide between a party and a football game ... well that's a hands-down decision. So see you on the field. Check back with SIOC throughout the year for more updates on Brigid and her season with the Wisconsin Wolves of the Women's Professional Football League. | |||||||
