With school in session, we're all packed in the dorms. We can easily get our posse together for a quick pick-up game of basketball, and we can pester a roommate to spot us at the gym. But when school's out, and everyone splits up to go home for the summer, this becomes a bit more difficult. But don't fret. The Internet offers several solutions. And none of them are on MySpace.

Need to find a pickup soccer game in your area? SportsVite can help you out.

(1) Check out SportsVite. Encouraging its users to stop shaking it three times playing with themselves, SportsVite allows you to enter in your location and find other players. I did a quick search for basketball in New Haven, CT, and I found 27 other people. Sweet. We even got subs.

(2) But, I know. Not all of us play well with others. Gimme20 offers an incredible amount of individual workouts -- from getting rid of your newly acquired beer belly to imitating the workout used in the movie 300. You can even customize your own workout and track your progress, should you be so inclined.

(3) And IntroPlay takes the workout a step further. Workout on your own, but join an "introLeague" and compete against others. Which team is more intense? But be honest!

(4) For the newbies/techies out there, iPod Gym offers a free selection of downloadable videos to show you exactly how an exercise is done --from using free weights, the machines, or even the Swiss ball. With so many people carrying around an iPod, this is nothing new. So if you're unsure how an exercise is properly done, get a personal trainer sent right to your iPod. Fantastic.

(5) Lastly, if you're a college-bound, high school athlete, be sure to sign up over at BeRecruited. Create a profile and post your stats, your photos, and your videos. (Note: Registering with the site does not violate NCAA regulations)

Play on.
