Now that the Stanley Cup has been won, here are some lingering questions to ponder for the off-season and for next season:

1. Will other teams Duck?

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In the new age of the faster, more wide-open NHL, the Ducks built a team of rugged, willing scrappers that captured the Cup. Roughnecks Brad May and Shawn Thornton were scampering about the ice during the playoffs, but George Parros was also hanging around in reserve. The thought was that teams could get by without enforcers. The Hurricanes proved it when they won the Cup without one last year. But given Anaheim's success, will more teams be looking to add grit?

2. Who will the Sabres lose?

Bank on Buffalo signing only one of its big-ticket snipers, Chris Drury or Daniel Briere. Both are free agents, and both will be asking in the $7 million range, a price that the Sabres could probably handle once, but not twice. The Flyers are said to be suitors for Briere, while the Bruins may make a strong swing at Drury, who is a Boston University graduate and New England native. Losing him would cut a huge chunk of heart out of Buffalo.

3. So long, Selanne?

This is the Ray Bourque question revisited. A great player finally wins his first Stanley Cup at the end of a great career that will soon land him in the Hall of Fame. Will this season be his last? Selanne will turn 37 next month and has logged 86 playoff games and 82 international contests in addition to the 1,041 NHL regular-season tilts. The Finnish star was Anaheim's top sniper in 2006-07, amassing 48 goals, 21 more than any other Duck. His loss would be significant.

4. Will the Penguins keep marching?

It seems only a matter of time before a team with such superb young talent as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal starts advancing deep into the playoffs. Remember that it took Crosby's owner, Mario Lemieux, five years of whiffs just to get into the playoffs. Once he did, Lemieux had enough of a supporting cast -- Jaromir Jagr, Joe Mullen, Ron Francis and Tom Barrasso -- to hoist the Cup twice. How far will Crosby take the 2007-08 Penguins?
