There is no E-mailer of the Week. I guess Andrew is getting even for something, because all I've got is a bunch of "How could you's?" Plus I'm in a bad mood because, for once I managed to get the video thing to work on my computer and I saw this week's She Said, Z Said and I was stunned at what a feeble old turtle I looked like.

Hall of Fame How Could You's first. Mark of Denver says that the talk show guys out there are accusing me of keeping Gary Zimmerman out. What talk show guys? I try not to talk to those sound bite idiots. Well, maybe I did let something slip. I remember mentioning that a guy's chances depend on who he's up against, which is a standard answer, and I guess one or two or all of those guys took this to mean I was against Z No. 2. Thanks for alerting me. Next time they call I'll tell them to ... you know.

About 300 overheated words from Josh of KC singing the praises of Chiefs' LB Derrick Thomas. Gee, thanks for enlightening me. I'll keep it in mind when the voting comes up.

A change up and a nice communiqué from Vance Sherard of Springfield, Mo. (and I use his last name because he's the closest to an EMOTW I've got), making a very humble pitch for former Cardinal cornerback Roger Wehrli. Always was one of my favorites. I've voted for him every time his name came up. Greatly underrated, and it's a major upset that he even reached the final 17. It'll be an even greater upset if he actually gets enshrined, but it's a weak field this year, so I'd give him about a 30-1 shot.

Next round of How Could You's, concerns my all-pro team, and to speed things up, just insert that how could you phrase in front of each of the following.

... leave off DeMarcus Ware? "Are you nuts?" That line of questioning comes from Ruben of Placenta, Calif., and the answer is that I had 10 guys I liked better. When he's on a roll and pressuring the quarterback, he's a force. When he's not, and that's happened, he's just another guy.

... leave off DT's Stroud and Henderson of the Jaguars? I picked Henderson a few years ago. Both of them are inconsistent, unblockable at times, invisible at others. Whoops, I almost made my emailer invisible. He's Timothy of Hillsboro, Ore., but most of you knew that already, right? Final question. Any chance that Rams' center Richie Incognito could someday develop into a more consistent force in the middle? Sure, if he spends some time with Dr. Phil.

... pick Antonio Gates over Kellen Winslow? Quality over quantity. More meaningful catches vs. more catches, and that answer is meant for you, Thomas of Palmyra, Pa.

... pick two left tackles, Brown and Ogden? "Don't right tackles stand a chance in your system?" Dear Ben of Midland, Texas: I've picked Willie Anderson in the past. I've picked Luke Petitgout when he was an RT. I grade all of them together. Highest grades win.

... leave off Kreutz and Urlacher? "I'm assuming you have a problem with Chicago. Maybe you were beat up there one time." But not as bad as you beat up the language. It's "beaten up," and I'm talking to you, Mike of Chicago. I've never been a Kreutz man, really. Crafty and all that. Plays the angles. But I've seen too many big guys on the nose, such as the Vikings' Pat Williams, give him a bad time. Urlacher, as I explained in my piece, narrowly lost out to Zach Thomas on the old chart. Or perhaps I should pick two MLBs, as the AP does, to duck having to choose. Or pick two RBs, as the AP does. Or pick two free safeties, as the AP does, basically because they don't know the difference between free and strong. This, folks, is why I don't send a ballot to the AP ... to let their schlock artists butcher it.
