Strange time of year we're in here: three confederational tournaments on the calendar, qualifying for another going on and youth World Cups set to kick off. That leaves slim pickins' as far as the club schedule is concerned.

Still, we're currently in the middle of the Copa Libertadores finals, which is no patatas pequeñas, as well as the most thrilling finish the Spanish league has seen in four years. Even more bizarre when you consider that the other big Euro leagues -- the English Premiership, Serie A, the Bundesliga -- wrapped up weeks ago.

As you'll see, a lot of the movement on the Rankings now reflects off-the-pitch action, and that can only mean one thing: transfer season. The window is now open, and so far Manchester United and Bayern Munich have struck the hardest. (Check out World Soccer's look at what to expect.) There will be plenty more to come, and for the first time in years, the effects will even be felt in Major League Soccer.

Let's get the show on the road. To send me your thoughts, head over to my Throw-Ins blog on FanNation. The big question: Does the Libertadores champion deserve a shot at No. 1?

Note: All rankings, records and statistics are through June 13.

World Soccer Power Rankings
Rank Prev. Team
1 1
AC Milan
Not much news is good news for the defending European champs, save for the usual megalomaniacal rumors of Milan chasing after the biggest stars in the game (Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o, please step forward). But what about two revenge schemes in one year? If No. 3 Boca Juniors finishes off the Libertadores title, Milan will have a shot at December's Club World Cup to avenge its shootout loss to the Argentines in the final of the 2003 Toyota Cup, the event's precursor.
2 2
Manchester United
Mostly quiet at Old Trafford as well following United's three big signings. I'm eager to see what Nani and Anderson can do on the pitch with Cristiano Ronaldo in an all-Portuguese-speaking attack force. Said Nani: "At least I'll have them to speak Portuguese with and they will be important especially in the initial period of adapting to a different country." As will screaming at José Mourinho on the opposing bench next season.
3 8
Boca Juniors
Los Xeneizes are 90 minutes away from claiming the biggest prize in South American soccer -- the Copa Libertadores crown -- and reasserting themselves as the premiere power in the Western Hemisphere. Their home domination in the tournament continued with a 3-0 smackdown of Grêmio in the final first leg, including goals from, of course, Rodrigo Palacio and superman Juan Román Riquelme. Boca had better finish the job in Porto Alegre on June 20, because Wednesday night's match was the likely Bombonera curtain call for both.
4 4
Chelsea
The soap opera at Stamford Bridge always continues into the offseason: Didier Drogba has hinted he might leave if Peter Kenyon doesn't spend; Arjen Robben is being linked to Real Madrid; Frank Lampard is again being linked to Barcelona; and it looks like Mourinho, Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack are staying put -- for now. On their way in are Claudio Pizarro, Steve Sidwell, Tal Ben Haim, Slobodan Rajkovic and Alex, who returns from PSV. And my head is spinning.
5 6
Real Madrid
I keep waiting for reality to sink in at Real, but it just isn't happening. Admit it, you thought karma had finally caught up to the Merengues last weekend as they were behind late to Deportivo La Coruña while Barcelona led Espanyol by a goal. Neither lead held, thus Real still holds it own fate for its first trophy in four years. And with Roberto Carlos officially leaving for Turkey, the last domino of the Galáctico era is set to fall. This truly is the last stand of a bygone era.
6 5
Inter Milan
Can Massimo Moratti and Carlos Tévez's people get a deal done? This could be a match made in heaven. As we've said, El Apache's game is perfect for Inter, and eight Argentine internationals already make their living at the San Siro, five of whom figure to be on Alfio Basile's Copa América roster. Maybe Moratti should have Juan Sebastián Verón give Tévez an encouraging phone call as well?
7 3
Sevilla
It would take a miracle for the Sevillistas to win La Liga now, but we still have loads of respect for what they've pulled off this season with a fraction of the money Spain's Big Two has. Sevilla will still be in action a week after the Spanish season ends in the Copa del Rey final, a perfect capper to a great season. All credit to coach Juande Ramos -- even a bottle to the head can't stop one of the most underrated tactical minds in the European game.
8 --
Grêmio
Hate to say it, but barring a miracle, Grêmio's Libertadores adventure looks to be done. Still, that doesn't take away from what the Porto Alegrans have accomplished in the tournament, knocking off fellow Brazilian powerhouses São Paulo and Santos on the way to the final round, without conceding a goal at home. I've been hugely impressed by their excellent midfield of Diego Souza, Tcheco, Lucas and Carlos Eduardo. Can they pull off a shocker?
9 7
Pachuca
Some rain finally came down on the Tuzos parade. After taking a 2-1 lead in the first leg of the Recopa Sudamericana, Pachuca was positively thumped in the second by Internacional (remember them?), which hasn't had anything to play for in months. That puts a stop to the amazing Pachuca trophy run for now. And the Tuzos lose super-sub and national-team castoff Luis Ángel Landín, who is on his way to Morelia.
10 10
FC Barcelona
Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Javier Saviola and Deco out? Henry, Palacio, Dani Alves, Christian Chivu and Jorge Andrade in? Regardless of what happens in this final weekend, this club is going to look strikingly different next season. We've only gotten hints of the locker-room discord at Barça, but the normally line-towing Edmílson's comments this week speak volumes: "I'm not going to go into details, but there are things which everyone knows about and which have come out in the press. I can't say what they have to fix, but we all know what the problems are."
Honorable mentions: AS Roma, Santos, Cúcuta Deportivo, Celtic, Olympique Lyonnais, FC Porto, VfB Stuttgart, San Lorenzo
Dropped off: Santos
