NCAA Football Power Rankings
Rank LW Team
21 21 Uh oh -- suddenly that Auburn win doesn't seem quite as impressive after the Tigers' subsequent home loss to Mississippi State. The Bulls will have another chance to test themselves soon enough. After what should be a snoozer against UNC, they host West Virginia a week from Friday.
Last game: Beat Auburn, 26-23.
Next game: Saturday vs. North Carolina.
22 -- It's with great reluctance that I add the Tigers to the Top 25 -- because history says they'll not only choke, but do so in particularly galling fashion, just as soon as I jump on their bandwagon. In the meantime, QB Cullen Harper is the surprise name at No. 4 in the country in passing efficiency.
Last game: Beat Furman, 38-10.
Next game: Saturday at N.C. State.
23 23 Freshman QB Tyrod Taylor may be known more for his feet, but in his first start he threw for an impressive, mistake-free 287 yards on 18 of 31 attempts. The Hokies' defense, meanwhile, looked much more like their usual dominant selves against Ohio, limiting the Bobcats to 114 total yards.
Last game: Beat Ohio, 28-7
Next game: Saturday vs. William and Mary.
24 25 Colt Brennan ran for three touchdowns against UNLV but did so while playing with an ankle sprain sustained while playing catch during Friday's walk-through. Afterward, he said it's "really sore" and would require rest. Uh oh -- what will the Warriors do if he can't play against Charleston Southern?
Last game: Beat UNLV, 49-14
Next game: Saturday vs. Charleston Southern.
25 -- The Tigers' offense is really turning into something special. Missouri went up 31-3 by halftime against Western Michigan and accumulated 619 total yards, including 328 from QB Chase Daniel. Freshman WR Jeremy Maclin had 275 all-purpose yards. The defense, we're still not sure about.
Last game: Beat Western Michigan, 52-24.
Next game: Saturday vs. Illinois State.
Dropped out: UCLA, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Washington.
