The ACC made history on Sunday with its largest women's basketball crowd as 17,950 showed up to watch No. 2 UNC top No. 3 Maryland in College Park. The conference also showed it's clearly the best in the country. So, it only makes sense that the top three powers in the league are hanging in there in our top five. And as the only unbeaten teams in the country, Duke and North Carolina have every reason to sit at the top.

Duke Blue Devils (21-0)
The Blue Devils are off to their best start ever. That's quite an accomplishment considering the talented teams Duke has had in the past. And guard Abby Waner is following in the path of some highly-recognized players of recent years. The sophomore, who was added to the list of candidates for the Wade Trophy award last week, leads Duke with 14.7 points a game. She's no slouch on the defensive end either. She's snatched a team-high 55 steals.

North Carolina Tar Heels (23-0)
North Carolina's stars are coming through. Erlana Larkins, Ivory Latta and Camille Little combined for 69 points in Sunday's win over Maryland. It's a big reason the Tar Heels have the longest winning streak in the country at 23 games. It's also why North Carolina is the only other team in our rankings without a loss.

Tennessee Volunteers (17-2)
On Sunday Alabama accomplished something few teams have been able to do: keep Candace Parker in check. Parker saw her streak of double-digit scoring games end at 33 (she finished with nine points). But Tennessee did something, too. It reminded us that Parker's not the only threat on that team. Shannon Bobbitt and Sidney Spencer can kill teams from the outside. Both are better than 40 percent from long range. Bobbitt showed just how dangerous she can be, hitting six three-pointers against the Crimson Tide.

Maryland Terrapins (21-2)
Maryland is learning it's not easy being the defending champions. But the Terrapins made things interesting on Sunday, mounting quite a comeback before coming up short against North Carolina. It shows the toughness of the Terrapins as well as the ACC. Maryland may not be the best team in the ACC at this point, but there's no doubt it would be on top in just about any other conference.

Ohio State Buckeyes (18-1)
Indiana coach Felisha Legette-Jack believes the Buckeyes "deserve to get to the Final Four." If the Buckeyes keep this going, they may make it. They've got a senior class that provides strong leadership. They've also got a couple of players who can take over a game in Brandie Hoskins and Jessica Davenport. On Monday night, the Buckeyes can take control of the Big Ten when they travel to Purdue.
