Curt Schilling has a shoulder injury that will keep him from being ready at the start of spring training and could even cause him to miss the entire season, reports the Boston Globe and Boston Herald

The exact injury for the Boston Red Sox star righthander is not known, but, according to the Herald, its severity has caused the Red Sox to explore voiding the one-year, $8 million contract he signed this offseason.

Schilling spent nearly two months on the disabled list last season with tendinitis in his right shoulder. He finished the regular season with a 9-8 record and a 3.87 ERA.

He rebounded to help lead Boston to its second World Series title in four years by going 3-0 in the postseason with a 3.00 ERA.
