North Carolina remained the unanimous No. 1 choice in The Associated Press' college basketball poll Monday after welcoming back player of the year Tyler Hansbrough.

Connecticut and Louisville stayed second and third. Xavier became the first new team to move into the rankings this season.

Hansbrough returned from a right leg injury to score 13 points in 25 minutes for the Tar Heels in an 84-67 win over UC Santa Barbara.

Xavier moved in at No. 16 after winning the Puerto Rico Tip-Off last week. The last of its three wins came in the title game against Memphis, then ranked No. 13.

Southern California dropped out from No. 19 after losing to Seton Hall and Missouri in the Puerto Rico tournament.
