After ringing in the New Year on South Beach with his girlfriend Kim Kardashian, Reggie Bush apparently decided to take their relationship to the next level in 2008 -- the two are reportedly engaged. You know what that means, right? Yep, plenty of excuses to post her pictures in the coming year. We couldn't be happier for the couple.

Not only did Illinois get blown out by USC in the Rose Bowl 49-17, but it didn't even get to party with Illinois' alum Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion like the 1984 squad did before getting routed by UCLA 45-9. "No, no Playboy Mansion necessary for us," senior offensive lineman Martin O'Donnell said. "We have our hands full as it is." Something tells us they wished they would have taken advantage of the Grotto as they head back to Champaign.

In typical NHL fashion, the league hosted its Winter Classic, an amazing outdoor hockey game between the Penguins and Sabres in front of 72,000 in Buffalo, on New Year's Day. Yeah, there's nothing happening that day. The game will definitely get all the attention it deserves then. The league's lack of timing notwithstanding, the images of the game are still classic, even if few outside of Buffalo saw it in the States.

LeBron James rang in the new year by celebrating his birthday with Jay-Z at the opening of his 40/40 Club in Las Vegas. As if that wasn't enough, Pauley Shore and Rev. Al Sharpton were also in attendance to help him celebrate.

When Tom Brady gives you advice, it's usually wise to listen. We're convinced he can do no wrong. Brady reportedly told Tony Romo recently to leave Jessica Simpson at home during games. So what if Gisele goes to his games? You're allowed to break your own rules when you haven't lost a game.

Kind of a Big Deal

The only thing funnier than Will Ferrell and his old college roommate getting two of USC's allotted five sideline passes for the Rose Bowl (remember Reggie Bush was denied last year?) was that Ferrell and his friend were momentarily kicked off the field for not having the appropriate credentials. No word if Ferrell pulled this card to get back onto the field.

The bowl season has been a big let down so far, but thankfully we're a few days a way from the game we've all been waiting for. That's right, the International Bowl on Jan. 5. To get the fans fired up for the game, Ball State is featuring its punter on its Web site. You know, because nothing gets fans more excited about a football game than the punter.
