STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Five seniors will serve as Penn State football captains this season, including injured standout linebacker Sean Lee.

Lee will be an honorary captain in 2008 as he recovers from a right knee injury suffered during spring practice. He expects to return to the field in 2009.

Anthony Scirrotto was elected a defensive captain along with defensive end Josh Gaines.

Scirrotto pleaded guilty in February to a misdemeanor for his role in an off-campus fight last year. The safety has said he has learned his lessons from that ordeal, and teammates have praised his leadership abilities.

The offensive captains are center A.Q. Shipley and receiver Derrick Williams.
