College Football Power Rankings: 26-119
SI.com's Kevin Armstrong ranks the rest of the Division I teams.
26 South Florida Last Week: 8

27 Northwestern Last Week: 31
Like their fellow eggheads from Nashville, the Wildcats have yet to crack, but their toughest test to date awaits Saturday. While Penn State's visit to Madison demands the spotlight, Pat Fitzgerald's team hosts Michigan State, also in contention for the conference title. Northwestern's path is not particularly tough after this week, as they face only one other Big Ten team (Ohio State at home on Nov. 8) that is currently ranked in the top 25.

28 Kansas
Kansas (3-1)
Last Week: 12

29 Clemson

Which team will show up Saturday: the one that started 3-0 including a win over then-upstart Fresno State or the one that has since dropped its first two Big Ten games by a total of five points? Which Allan Evridge shows up -- be it the one who threw two touchdowns and three interceptions the last two games or the one who threw three touchdowns and one interception in the first three games -- should go a long way in determining the outcome.

In the only BCS conference where no team is ranked, the Huskies are still in the chase for top-dog position. The aftershocks of losing starting quarterback Tyler Lorenzen (broken right foot) are still being felt, especially by tailback Donald Brown, who must bear an even larger burden. Replacement quarterback Zach Frazer threw three interceptions against North Carolina last week. More importantly, UConn may want to shore up its punt protection. The Tar Heels blocked three attempts.

40 Boston College Last Week: 41

41 Florida St. Last Week: 45

42 South Carolina Last Week: 44

In this week's episode of As the Terps Turn ... Ralph Friedgen is still laboring to pick up the pieces after a 31-0 loss to Virginia. In the background, critics are chirping about how the Terps' earlier wins over Cal and Clemson are now irrelevant and that this year's team will have its epitaph written as such: They lost to Middle Tennessee State (24-14) and Virginia (31-0). Enough said.

47 Fresno St. Last Week: 27

48 Notre Dame Last Week: 55

49 Arizona
Arizona (4-1)
Last Week: 58

50 Western Michigan Last Week: 77
