
Court Vision wins Hollywood Derby |
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -- Court Vision rallied to win the Hollywood Derby on Sunday, giving jockey Ramon Dominguez a sweep of $500,000, Grade I events on the final day of the Turf Festival at Hollywood Park. Dominguez also guided favorite Cocoa Beach to a come-from-behind victory two races earlier in The Matriarch. Court Vision looked beaten heading into the far turn of the 1 \-mile Derby, but edged away in the final yards while covering the distance in 2:01.43, finishing three-quarters of a length in front of Cowboy Cal. Court Vision paid $9.60, $4.60 and $3, while Cowboy Cal returned $6.60 and $5.20. The show payoff on Midships was $7.60. Trained by Bill Mott, Court Vision earned $300,000 to boost his bankroll to $1,006,400. He has won five of 12 starts. Earlier under Dominguez, Cocoa Beach rallied in the stretch to win The Matriarch by three-quarters of a length over defending champion and pacesetter Precious Kitten. Cocoa Beach paid $5.80, $3.20 and $2.20. Precious Kitten returned $3.20 and $2.40, while the show payoff on Visit was $2.60.
