Your guide to the weekend -- SIOC style

Friday

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, featuring T-Bone Burnett, University of California, 8 p.m.

The Led Zeppelin singer and former Bluegrass fiddle prodigy seem like unlikely collaborators, but "Raising Sand" (the album they released last fall) has received widespread critical acclaim. Tonight they take their act to Berkeley.

Oregon Bach Festival, University of Oregon

More than two weeks of concerts and lectures will pay homage to Germany's most famous non-deaf composer. The opening weekend's festivities kick off with a performance of "Mass in B Minor."

Saturday

Palmer Cup Final Round, Glasgow, Scotland

The U.S. and Europe have split the last four meetings in this collegiate version of the Ryder Cup. NCAA individual champion Kevin Chappell leads the American team across the pond.

Kuumba Festival, Knoxville, Tenn.

Knoxville's annual celebration of African American art and music is now in its 19th year. On Saturday night, Tennessee students can ride a wave of nostalgia back to 2001 when R&B group Jagged Edge performs.

1992 NCAA Tournament, Kentucky vs. Duke, ESPN Classic, 3 p.m.

Remember when Duke used to win NCAA tournament games? Don't miss a chance to catch this timeless contest. ESPN Classic will follow Christian Laettner's prayer with a broadcast of the 1982 Stanford-Cal "dash through the band" game. It promises to be better than whatever's on ESPN.

Sunday

19th Annual Colorado Brewery Festival, Fort Collins, Colo.

Fort Collins in known for two things -- Colorado State football and beer. This weekend's festival will feature beer from 50 different Colorado breweries, as well as local food and music. With beer tokens that cost just $2, you can even save gas money by spending all day at the fest.

Mascot Summer Camp, University of Kansas

Are you a high school student aspiring to someday don a steamy animal suit while firing up a crowd? Kansas' four-day mascot camp teaches "mascot do's and don'ts," "character development," and "skit ideas." If you're interested in learning how to fight other mascots, I suggest looking into some unofficial, after-camp instruction.
