Pardew leaves Charlton after slide |
LONDON (AP) -- Alan Pardew paid the price for Charlton's slide when he left the club Saturday after a 5-2 home loss to Sheffield United. The defeat left the Addicks in the relegation zone of the League Championship after eight games without a victory. The only two teams below them haven't won a match. The club said Pardew had left by mutual consent. "My record coming to this club has been good, but it's been difficult here,'' said Pardew, who arrived at The Valley in December 2006. "When I arrived they were on the slide and I haven't been able to stop that. "We're in a sticky situation and I have to accept whatever decision is made.'' Copyright 2008 Associated Press.
