FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Substitute Nuri Sahin earned the decisive goal in 10-man Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday in the final round of the Bundesliga before the winter break.

Mohamed Zidan scored in the first half and Sahin doubled the lead before Johannes van den Bergh pulled one back for the visitors. But 'Gladbach could not use some late chances and fell to its 12th defeat of the season to spend the winter break in last place.

Zidan struck a volley in the 35th minute that looped over Moenchengladbach goalkeeper Christofer Heimeroth.

Three minutes later, Heimeroth was struck in the thigh by Tamas Hajnal after collecting a ball and the Dortmund midfielder was sent off with his second yellow card of the match.

Although a man down, Dortmund did not retreat and Jakub Blaszczykowski charged down the right flank and sent a perfect ground pass to Sahin, who slotted the ball inside the far post.

The visitors got back into the match with 10 minutes remaining when Van den Bergh, from a poor clearance, fired a left-foot volley into the roof of Dortmund's net.

Dortmund held off 'Gladbach's late attacks and rose provisionally to sixth place.
