Van der Sar signs new deal with Man United |
MANCHESTER, England (AP) -- Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has agreed a new contract with Manchester United, keeping him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2010. The lanky 38-year-old Dutchman is in his fourth season with the Red Devils after moving from Fulham at a time when United was struggling to find a consistent keeper. His performances have played a big part in United winning back-to-back Premier League titles. In last season's Champions League final, his save from Chelsea's Nicolas Anelka in a penalty shootout earned United the title after a 1-1 draw. "We have agreed a new one-year contract with Edwin," United manager Alex Ferguson said on Friday. "His experience, temperament, professionalism and performance level have not changed one bit since he has been with us. Obviously, it will be his last year. He will be almost 40 then, which is a great credit to the lad. He has been absolutely marvelous here." Copyright 2008 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
