Moore undergoes successful surgery |
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) -- Former Glasgow Rangers and Newcastle United defender Craig Moore will not require radiation therapy after doctors told him Monday that his recent surgery for testicular cancer was a success. The 32-year-old center back had an operation last month, five days after being diagnosed, and withdrew from Australia's team for a World Cup qualifier against Bahrain before returning to domestic football in Australia. Queensland Roar released a statement saying Moore met his oncologist on Monday and was given the go ahead to continue playing. A key member of Australia's 2006 World Cup campaign, Moore rose to the captaincy in an 11-year career at Rangers before moving on to spells in Germany and England before returning to play with Queensland in the A-League.
